OUR FISHERY

WELCOME TO OAHU

Hawai’i is unlike any other bonefish destination in the world. Once you successfully arrive in the bustling city of Honolulu you are only minutes from some of the best flats on the island. While there aren't endless miles of shallow white sand, these unique flats are home to the largest bonefish you’ll ever encounter.

Oahu is well known as one of if not the most challenging bonefish destinations on the planet. While having an experienced guide at your side is always beneficial, for a vast majority of fly anglers in Hawaii it is paramount.

THE FISH

The typical Hawaiian bonefish averages between 4 and 6 pounds, with most days giving you multiple opportunities at fish exceeding 10 pounds. Whether you’re a die hard angler or a weekend warrior, stalking and casting to a double digit tailing fish will leave your heart pounding!

THE SEASONS

BONEFISH ARE AVAILABLE YEAR ROUND. WITH THE BEST FISHING BEING IN THE WARMER SUMMER MONTHS. JANUARY THROUGH MARCH IS THE COLDEST TIME OF THE YEAR HERE IN HAWAI’I, AND THE FISHING IS GENERALLY MORE CHALLENGING.

OTHER SPECIES

Other game fish occasionally found on the flats and reefs include the giant trevally or “GT”, bluefin trevally, yellow spot trevally, golden trevally, milkfish, barred jack, barracuda and various species of goatfish and wrasse. SIGHT FISHING these species will depend on the weather, tide and season.

GUIDED TRIPS

WHAT TO EXPECT

you’re in for a hunt! we will be stalking and sight fishing to large, wary bonefish. On any given day you can expect to see anywhere between 25 to 60 bonefish on the flats. On days with great weather and tides its not unrealistic to see over 100. Most fish will be feeding solo or in pairs, typically getting shots at about 50% of the fish you see in a day.

The typical day of fishing will utilize a mix of both fishing from a flats boat, and wading the shallows to stalk fish on foot. How much of each is done usually depends on the weather and tide.

The casting tends to be a bit more close range than other fisheries, as the Average casting distance to a fish is only 20-35 feet. Like other saltwater locations, more often than not there will be a stiff breeze, so its never a bad idea to brush up on your casting skills before a trip.

Guided fishing is offered in Full day and half day increments for up to 2 anglers. our fishing day will typically begin in the morning, but time will change to adjust to the tides and best times for fishing. if you have specific time constraints due to flights or other matters feel free to reach out as we try to be as flexible as possible.
